Zhang Dejiang Meets with Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands

On the afternoon of 15 November 2013, Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, met at the Great Hall of the People with Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands.

Zhang Dejiang said that over the 40-plus years since the establishment of China-Netherlands diplomatic relationship, with the joint efforts of both sides, the two countries have enjoyed fruitful cooperation in all fields and bilateral relations are entering a stage of mature and robust development. The NPC of China attaches importance to relations with the Dutch Parliament and is ready to keep close friendly exchanges at various levels and through all channels, to share experience on democracy, legal system and state governance, to unceasingly push for in-depth development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, to constantly expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges and to create a sound legal environment for mutually beneficial cooperation so as to ensure that parliamentary relations will become a positive constructive force for pushing for the development of China-Netherlands relations.

Rutte said that Netherlands-China relations enjoy sound development and both sides have carried out effective cooperation in extensive fields. The Dutch Parliament has enjoyed unceasing friendly exchanges with the NPC of China in recent years. The Dutch side is ready to continue pushing forward exchanges and contacts between the legislative bodies of the two countries so as to promote greater development of the relations between the two countries.
