Chinese Ambassador Wu Jianghao Called Upon Minister of External Affairs of Sri Lanka Prof. G.L. Peiris

On 27 June 2012, Chinese Ambassador Wu Jianghao called upon Minister of External Affairs of Sri Lanka Prof. G.L. Peiris. Ambassador Wu firstly reviewed the history of the development of China-Sri Lanka relations. He said that this year marks the 55th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sri Lanka and the 60th anniversary of signing of the Rubber-Rice Pact. New opportunities have emerged for the further development of the bilateral ties. As the new Chinese Ambassador, he is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with Sri Lankan Government and all social circles, to promote further development of exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two countries.
 
Prof. Peiris welcomed Ambassador Wu's assumption of office. He spoke highly of the progress of Sri Lanka-China relationship in recent years, expressed his gratitude for China's assistance to Sri Lanka's economic and social development, and said that Sri Lanka is willing to enhance pragmatic cooperation with China in all fields to push forward the development of Sri Lanka-China relationship.
