Chinese Ambassador Yi Xianliang Visits the Southern Province

Chinese Ambassador Yi Xianliang paid a visit to the Southern Province of Sri Lanka from May 4 to 7. During the visit, Ambassador Yi inspected some mega projects constructed or being constructed by Chinese companies, such as the Southern Railway, Southern Expressway, Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, etc., and visited the Chinese and Sri Lankan workers at the construction sites. Besides, Ambassador Yi called on Governor of the Southern Province and Mayor of Galle, capital city of the Southern Province, and District Secretary of Hambantota District.

Ambassador Yi introduced to leaders of Sri Lankan Local government the status of the projects contracted with Chinese companies and said that China would like to promote the pragmatic cooperations with the Southern province and create a win-win situation.

Hon. Governor Dr. Hemakumara Nanayakkara of the Southern Province made positive comments about the two countries' traditional friendship, and extended thanks to the Chinese side for its assistance in the fields of local economic and social development, and welcomed more and more Chinese companies to invest in the Southern Province.

Ambassador Yi also visited Kataragama Kiri Vehera.
