Chinese Ambassador H.E.Yi Xianliang Calls Upon Sri Lankan Speaker of Parliament Hon. Chamal Rajapaksa

On 12 March, 2015,the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka H.E. Yi Xianliang called upon Sri Lankan Speaker of Parliament Hon. Chamal Rajapaksa. The two sides had friendly discussions on China-Sri Lanka relations and communications of legislative bodies of the two countries.

H.E. Ambassador Yi firstly conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to Hon. Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa from H.E. Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee. Hon. Speaker Chamal expressed his appreciation and requested Ambassador Yi to convey his sincere greetings to H.E.. Zhang Dejiang.

Ambassador Yi said the two countries enjoy profound traditional friendship and fruitful pragmatic cooperation. The Chinese side is committed to promoting the development of China-Sri Lanka Strategic Cooperative Partnership with Sri Lanka side,so as to benefit peoples of both countries. Yi also stressed his willingness to promote exchanges between China’s NPC and Sri Lankan Parliament.

Hon. Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa welcomed the assumption of office by Ambassador Yi and expressed his appreciation for the strong support of China to Sri Lanka’s development. He said, the Sri Lanka-China relationship has a long history. He believes the bilateral ties will develop further with joint efforts of both countries. The relations and communications of legislative bodies between China and Sri Lanka has been cordial and achieved good results. The Parliament of Sri Lanka would like to further strengthen the exchanges with NPC of China.
