Wang Yi: China Stands Ready to Actively Discuss China-Sri Lanka-India Trilateral Cooperation

On February 27, 2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Chinese and foreign journalists jointly with Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera of Sri Lanka in Beijing, saying that China holds an open attitude towards China-Sri Lanka-India trilateral cooperation and stands ready to actively discuss possible fields and feasible approaches of the trilateral cooperation.

Wang Yi said that both Sri Lanka and India are China's important and friendly neighbors in South Asia and important cooperative partners in China's neighborhood diplomacy. China hopes for a sound development of both the China-Sri Lanka and China-India relations, and is pleased to see a continuous development of the Sri Lanka-India relations. A trilateral relationship featuring sound interaction, mutual promotion, mutual benefits and win-win results best fits the interests of the three sides and conduces to regional peace, stability and common prosperity.

Wang Yi gave examples that illustrate the possibility of the trilateral cooperation. He said that all boasting abundant Buddhist tourism resources, the three countries can consider cooperation in developing tourist routes. Besides, China and India can discuss exerting their respective advantages to jointly play a positive role in Sri Lanka's economic and social development.
