Chinese Ambassador Wu Jinaghao called upon H.E. President Maithripala Sirisena

On Januaury 15th, Chinese Ambassador Wu Jinaghao called upon H.E. Maithripala Sirisena, President of Sri Lanka. The two sides exchanged views on further promoting the bilateral ties.

Ambassador Wu said China always attaches great importance to its relations with Sri Lanka, which is a traditional friendly neighbour and time-tested sincere partner of China. China is committed to further promoting the development of the Strategic Cooperative Relationship between the two countries.

H.E. President Sirisena expressed his thanks for the congratulations message sent by H.E. President Xi Jinping on his election as the president. He said that Sri Lanka-China friendship can be dated back to ancient times. H.E. President Xi Jinping's state visit to Sri Lanka last September was very successful. Sri Lanka government is willing to jointly implement the consensus reached during of the state visit and strengthen pragmatic cooperation in all fields so as to push forward the bilateral ties.
