The First Chinese Bookstore Opened in Sri Lanka

On the morning 23rd November, the first Chinese bookstore -XinZhi Chinese Books (Colombo) in Sri Lanka opened. Mr. Ren Faqiang, Charge d’affairs and Political Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, Mr. A. Gunawardena, President of Sri Lanka-China Society, Mr. Yapa, President of the Bookstore Association of Sri Lanka, Mr. Zhang Hong, President of Sri Lanka Overseas Chinese Federation and Mr. Li Yong, Board Chairman of Kunming XinZhi Group were present at the opening ceremony.

In his speech at the ceremony, Mr. Ren positively commented on the opening of the Chinese bookstore. He said that cultural exchange is an important part of the bilateral relationship between China and Sri Lanka. The XinZhi Chinese Books (Colombo),as one of the private cultural enterprises opened in Colombo, provides a platform for the Chinese overseas in Sri Lanka to get to know and inherit Chinese culture and opens a window for the Sri Lankan people to understand Chinese culture and learn Chinese language and plays a bridge role in promoting the cultural exchange between the two countries as well.

The XinZhin Chinese bookstore (Colombo) located in 32 Galle Road, within the centre of Colombo. It is the first opened Chinese bookstore in the country of South Asia. Before that, XinZhi Group opened its Chinese bookstores in Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia and Myanmar.
