Ambassador Wu Jianghao's Message for Sinhala & Tamil New Year
2013/04/12

On the auspicious occasion of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy, the Chinese companies and institutions as well as Chinese people in Sri Lanka, and in my own name, I'd like to express my sincere greetings and best wishes to the Sri Lanka people.

In the past year, with the leadership of H. E. President Rajapaksa, Sri Lanka has enjoyed political stability, growing economy and progress in various areas of society. China, as a friendly neighbour of Sri lanka, would like to express its heartfelt felicitation.

The past year has witnessed the great development of China-Sri Lanka relationship. We had frequent contacts between our two leaderships, supported each other on the issues relating to our respective core interests and major concerns. Our mutual political trust has further deepened and our pragmatic cooperation steadily advanced. With our joint efforts, we celebrated the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties and 60th anniversary of the signing of the Rubber and Rice Pact. Besides, our cultural exchanges have been active and vigorous.

Recently, H. E. Chinese President Xi Jingping and H. E. President Mahinda Rajapaksa had a phone conversation and reached important consensus, which pointed out the direction for the development of our relations in the new period. The Chinese side is ready to join hands with the Sri Lankan side to implement the consensus reached by our two Heads of State and step up exchanges and cooperation in various fields, so as to push our bilateral relations to new heights and bring benefits to our two peoples.

May Sri Lanka enjoy prosperity!

May China-Sri Lanka friendship last forever!

May Sri Lankan people enjoy a happy new year, success in work and a good health!
